Lafayette Grand Café & Bakery – NoHo

Lafayette Grand Café & Bakery is one of the ideal sites at Lafayette Street corner Great Jones Street for food lovers.

Lafayette Grand Café & Bakery is an everyday grand café and bakery in ceremony of French cooking at the corner of Lafayette Street and Great Jones Street in downtown Manhattan.

Lafayette Grand Café & Bakery serves all three meals in a beautiful brasserie space: Copper pots hang in the kitchen, horseshoe-shaped booths are spacious and inviting, while the clean, fresh look of the bakery—with blue-and-white patterned floor tiles and lots of white marble—offsets the rusticity of the dining room.

Cuisine

The menu spans a variety of regions, some dishes are signatures and some salute tradition. Appetizers from the ‘French Market’ include Egg Lafayette with smoked sable and trout caviar, Fruits de Mer, fromages and housemade pâté and rillettes. Handmade pastas likeSpaghetti Nicoise and Girandole with braised rabbit and picholine olives are followed by Entrées such as Steamed Wild Black Bass with bouillabaisse jus and Duck au Poivre. Spécialités like Dry-Aged Strip Steak Frites and Wood Grilled Local Trout with braised cabbage and dijon are answered by provincial dishes like Chicken Tagine with North African spices and Roasted Mediterranean Octopus with saucisson and chickpea. Jen Yee’s desserts are inspired classics, like Fromage Blanc Cheesecake with concord grapes and rye crust and Mille-Feuille Lafayette with chocolate cremeux.

Wine

Lafayette Grand Café & Bakery has a wide and varied collection of French bottles that compliment their style of cooking, dining and drinking. They balance the familiar and the eclectic from the roots of France’s diverse wine producing regions. Lafayette Grand Café & Bakery are inspired by what local vintners across countrysides are drinking, time honored traditions, surprising anomalies and what we find to be delicious. Its 350-bottle list is assembled by grape and provenance.

The private wine cave has its own bar, which makes it ideal for office holiday parties.
