Lure Fishbar – SoHo

Lure Fishbar is a seafood restaurant known for its exceptional raw bar and sushi selections as well as inventive twists on classic American dishes.

Establishing a hot restaurant in New York City is one thing. Maintaining it for over a decade is another. That’s exactly what chef/restaurateur Josh Capon has managed to do with Lure Fishbar. Located in New York City’s SoHo neighborhood, Lure Fishbar is a contemporary American Seafood featuring an extensive raw bar and first class sushi program.

John McDonald is a dynamic entrepreneur with a varied background in nightlife, restaurants and media. In 2004, McDonald opened Lure Fishbar in the heart of Soho, a stylish yacht-inspired and sophisticated seafood restaurant with a standout sushi bar and world class wine program.

Lure Fishbar has been a Soho fixture since it opened in 2004. It has always been one of the cooler, more unique restaurant spaces in town, with a subterranean room designed to look like a really sweet boat. And what are sweet boats usually filled with? Models, celebrities, and rich guys. No matter how old the boat is.

Food

Much of Lure’s menu is tried and true, and some of it has even gotten better with age. Owners John McDonald and Josh Pickard partnered with chef Josh Capon to create a menu of sea fare favorites including crispy calamari, grilled octopus, toro tartare and roasted sea scallops. The restaurant features full sushi and raw bars where guests can enjoy sashimi and specialty rolls as well as a well-curated selection of fresh oysters, clams, crab, caviar and lobster.

You can go steak, you can go fish, you can go raw bar, or you can just come to drink. The bottom line is that you’ll probably leave happy.

Events

Lure Fishbar has many options to help you organize any number of occasions. Below is a list of some options.

  • Large party dinners for 10 to 20 people can be arranged with a full range of menu options and wine pairings.
  • Wine Vault dinners can accommodate up to 28 guests and can be taken completely private or semi-private.
  • Sushi Bar “cocktail party” is another option that allows for a more casual, not seated, affair. Depending on size and nature of party our chef works to create a combination of raw bar, sushi bar, and small bite items from our menu.
  • Full shut down of the restaurant for parties up to 200 guests seated or up to 300 for a cocktail party or buffet type presentation.

Dine and Wine

Lure Fishbar offers amazing cocktails and a well crafted 250 bottle wine list. Beyond the clientele, Lure serves many functions: it’s where the bridge & tunnel crowd goes to turn up for dinner before hitting the club on Saturday night, and where downtown suits head for a business class lunch. It’s where the creative types go when someone else is paying, and it’s also the spot where locals hang at the bar for oysters and a burger. It’s quite the scene, and is still one of the best People Watching restaurants ever. No one really talks about Lure Fishbar as a hot spot anymore, but business appears to better than ever. Lure Fishbar greatest achievement is its treatment of the classics.
